OPENING DOORS: The authors explain how applying a neurodiverse perspective broadens student opportunities.
by James A. Baumann

“We contribute from our diversity, not in spite of it.” This quotation from Zosia Zaks, a program manager at the Hussman Center for Adults with Autism at Towson University, is tucked in the foreword of the new book College Success for Students on the Autism Spectrum: A Neurodiversity Perspective (Stylus Publishing). It’s just ten words, but its spirit permeates the rest of the volume. The Talking Stick spoke with the authors as well as Rowan University’s director of residential learning, Debbie Scheibler, about how the book’s lessons can be applied in a campus housing context.
